Planetary roller screws enable humanoid robots to perform ultra-precise linear movements — from delicate finger gestures to high-force operations — by using line contact instead of point contact. After the invention of the steam machine, A.I. started to develop and produce machine tools in-house, such as specific turning lathes, which they needed for ammunition manufacturing.

A.I. started to sell machine tools to other companies for civil purposes.

The first turning machine with a hydrostatic main spindle for the manufacturing of memory discs, which require a very smooth surface finish.

Hembrug moved to Haarlem and focused only on the manufacturing of high precision, fully hydrostatic turning lathes under the name Mikroturn.

Introduction of the Vertical-Mikroturn series for large workpieces up to a diameter of 1000 mm. This would be the first model from the vertical product range.
